The war for the soul of...

In response to an FT article by Edward Luce on 23rd October 2016, entitled ‘The war for America’s conservative soul’

“Courage. Leadership. Virtue. These were the qualities conservatives once prized. If you think of Abraham Lincoln, Dwight Eisenhower or George HW Bush, the Republican party had a reasonable strike rate of producing them. Leaders’ good character was central to conservative philosophy. Donald Trump does not fit that bill…A man whose victory is willed by Vladimir Putin, Julian Assange and David Duke, former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, has no interest in the quality of democracy…” – Edward Luce

A bigger threat to the ‘quality of democracy’ comes when the fourth estate fails in its primary duty – to hold ‘power’ to account.

On that score, Julian Assange is a ‘democrat’ Mr. Luce. The war for the soul of conservatism is not the only conflict playing out here. There is another war – the war for the soul of the media - you are losing

"An even bigger threat to the 'quality of democracy'  comes when the 4th estate fails in its primary duty – to hold ‘power’ to account."

The collusion and corruption of the fourth estate, the last barricade between citizens and tyranny, is the real scary thing about this election. It is the only story going and the only one not covered for obvious reasons.
