Why: Steal oil, sell arms and continue to impose the dollar as the global reserve currency

Excuse: Promote 'freedom' and ‘democracy’

Summary: ‘Protection racket’

Performance: Failing

Trend: Long term decline

Major Turning Point: The dropping of two nuclear bombs on Japan to bring World War Two to a dramatic closure, with a clear message to the USSR that the US would tolerate no rivals

Twelve subsequent ‘events’ that have marked the decline (not an exhaustive list):

  1. The obliteration of North Korea, 1950-53

  2. The violent overthrow of the first democratically elected government in the Middle East, Iran, 1953

  3. The emergence of the CIA as a ‘rogue’ organisation with its own agendas, 1950s

  4. The assassination of JFK and the subsequent ‘sham’ enquiry, 1963

  5. Escalation of the Vietnam War & the atrocities of napalm, 1964-75

  6. Support for Iraq in its war on Iran, including the supply of chemical weapons, 1980-88

  7. The massacre of fleeing Iraqi forces on the penultimate day of the 1st Gulf War, 1991

  8. The illegal bombing of Yugoslavia (without UN approval), 1999

  9. Declaration of the ‘War on Terror’, 2001

  10. The subsequent wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, 2001-present

  11. The use of al-Qaeda & other terrorist proxies for the attempted regime change in Syria, 2011-present

  12. The ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ policy towards Israel’s abuse of Palestinians, 1948-present

Prognosis: Continuing moral decay, loss of international respect, collapse of empire.
