It’s ‘telling’ that Summers made almost identical comments to Yanis Varoufakis, as described in the latter’s 2015 book ‘Adults in the Room’. Summers has failed uphill throughout his ‘career’: he scrapped Glass Steagall, enabling the banks to become casinos; he blocked the regulation of derivatives (financial WMDs that greased the ‘wheels of greed’ that led to the last crash) and he lost $1bn for Harvard when he managed their Trust Fund…but clearly he has his uses for the parasites at the top of the pyramid.
