Some elephants just won’t stay in the corner…
Did you hear the one about how six Japanese aircraft carriers sailed up to Honolulu and sank four American battleships while everyone was on tea break?
How about that time US Naval Intelligence told the captain of the US Destroyer, Maddox, that he was under fire in the Gulf of Tonkin? The captain couldn’t see, hear or feel a thing, but that turned out to be a failure in his ‘Imagination System’.
Here’s another cracker; remember that time when a 15 year-old daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador claimed to be a nurse who had witnessed Iraqi soldiers taking Kuwaiti children out of incubators, throwing them on the floor and stealing the incubators?
Or when ‘western allies’ reliably informed the world that Gaddafi had issued his soldiers with Viagra so they’d do a better job raping civilians?
“And the hits just keep on comin”…
How about that time when 2 planes levelled 3 buildings flat as a pancake the same day that a plane without wings made a big round hole in the Pentagon?
Or when Colin Powell did some magic tricks at the UN? My favourite was when he turned a test-tube of sugar into a test-tube of sugar and everyone swooned when he told them it was a test-tube of ‘instant-death’. What a showman…
I know that none of you are old enough to remember the RMS Lusitania or the USS Maine, and neither am I, so we won’t go there. Let’s just ask ourselves what all these stories have in common? Correct: they all provided ‘justification’ for entry into, or creation of, a war that would otherwise have been impossible to ‘sell’.
So imagine my surprise when 9 days ago I saw pictures of black-hooded Hamas fighters soaring over the fence of the most heavily monitored & guarded border on Earth, riding hand-gliders powered by engines lifted from a Honda moped, and the IDF was nowhere to be seen…for hours.
And I was not alone by any means…even the Israeli journalist Efrat Fenigson, who used to work for Israeli intelligence, could smell a rat, and more tellingly perhaps, was prepared to say so:
Meanwhile the usual suspects were out frothing at the mouth, hijacking any impulse to ‘think’, driving the ‘narrative’ towards war. Nikki Haley broke several people’s ribs elbowing them out of the way to get to the microphone:
But even Frank Gardner at the BBC was ‘astounded’ at what was going on. Naturally though, possibly for reasons of mortgage protection, he couldn’t bring himself to ask the real question:
Do you think the Netanyahu government is capable of sacrificing its own civilians in order to unleash a 2nd Nakba upon its sworn enemy?

Shortly afterwards, it transpired that Frank’s astonishment was premature - Egyptian intelligence divulged that it HAD seen unusual activity and had warned Netanyahu that something big was being planned. Netanyahu’s office immediately issued a statement that this had categorically NOT happened…only to walk it back shortly afterwards by saying that yes, Israel had received a warning, but that it had NOT been passed on to Netanyahu.
Unfortunately, however, someone forgot to tell the Americans…
Undeterred Netanyahu announced that he was forming a government of ‘national unity’, thereby shelving the upcoming election which he would have lost heavily, thus ensconcing himself in an ‘opposition free’ environment to pursue his long-held dream - the total ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
Meanwhile, a new piece of ‘atrocity propaganda’ was emerging: Hamas had beheaded 40 Israeli babies. This was manna from heaven for the media, who didn’t question the claim, took the bait hook, line and sinker, and buried the possibility that people might ‘dwell’ on the fact that Netanyahu had failed to act upon the warning.
Since then, the story has been thoroughly discredited, the IDF cannot confirm it (ie it didn’t happen), and CNN have had to hang their heads in mock shame. The problem with that of course, is that the damage has already been done: by the time the lie is debunked, the purpose for which it was created has already been fulfilled… and millions of people who believed the lie don’t even realise that they were lied to. Atrocity Propaganda 101.
There are a number of paths I could pursue here…but the purpose of this piece is NOT to describe the antecedents of this conflict…that would take me back to at least 1908 when the Balfour agreement was signed and sent to Lord Rothschild.
Neither is it to analyse the strategy being employed by Israel, the likely response from Hizbollah, the wider geopolitical implications, or the possibility of escalation to a nuclear war.
Nor is it to describe the censorship that is being employed across the world to make sure that those speaking up for Palestinians are ignored, marginalised and even arrested.
Neither is it to talk, yet again, about how the label of antisemitism is weaponised, even against non-Zionist Jews, to discredit criticism of a thoroughly brutal regime.

My purpose is to tell you this:
- This war would NOT be happening unless some very powerful people, who remain invisible, wanted it. Wars have never been about ‘events, dear boy, events’…wars have always been about ‘agendas dear boy, agendas’
- The ‘genesis story’ for war is the foundation for everything that follows…it justifies everything
- Truth is the most powerful weapon against an evil agenda. An appeal for justice has no impact on those who seek an injustice. An appeal for compassion does not move those who have none. The enemies of humanity, and that is a perfect description for those behind this, are only afraid of the truth…because it IS what it IS, it can be hidden but it cannot be altered…and it has a way of making itself heard
Finally, to those who say that it doesn’t matter what Netanyahu knew or didn’t know…that it’s ‘water under the bridge’ I will say this. The moment that the public wakes up to the truth, everything from that moment changes. When the spell is broken, the justification for slaughter vanishes. Only then can appeals for justice and compassion find the oxygen they need. So I say again:
Truth is the most powerful weapon we have against an evil agenda
